![]() ![]() I have entered, the url for the video I cited and to "start" the video at 00:02:33 which is where the narrator states, "Electronic Keyboards are NOT synthesizers, then finishes by saying what they "actually" are- but I could not find where to enter the part about where to have started the video in order immediately to hear that. Of course, I included the one reference (citation) I already knew I could locate instantly from my own screen's existing tab-row. I tried to insert a reference I had just opened an hour earlier, where a video's ( start at 00:02:33) narrator reads, "A digital (electronic) keyboard is NOT a synthesizer, but plays a digitally sampled, or pre-recorded tone, for each key." (Soon after that part, the narrator goes into much-greater detail, about exactly "what" an actual "synthesizer" actually "is," or does, which makes the difference even more apparent).Īlthough absolutely correct, this 2013 video's content is hardly startling or unique- since most people who have read enough about digital (electronic) keyboards (that are not "explicitly" sold as "synthesizers") to have bought one- would already long have known this for themselves, from a multiplicity of common sources. I have edited the reference to the Electronic Keyboard "as" a so-called "synthesizer," by taking-out where the piece had read that the Electronic Keyboard "is" "a synthesizer" (with a small amp and speakers). Generally people differentiate between "synthesizers" and "electronic keyboards" in this way a synth is a professional instrument, and an electronic keyboard isn't. I'd say no, as those keyboards don't have the ability to manipulate signals (they just play them back). Is the electronic keyboard (the one sold to amatures and children) considered a synthesizer? If not, why? I feel this information is important to the article, especially for amatures such as myself.Īn interesting point you raise there.
